I sat outside to 

Pot lime basil, sweet basil, 

Curly parsley and cilantro,

Habeneros that didn’t make it

Into the vegetable plot 

Out back by the barns, 

I potted tall tomato plants

Already setting fruit for

My lonesome kitchen garden
